Huffman, LLC & Rolls Royce Aircraft Engine to Exhibit at DMC2011 to Promote Laser Powder Fusion (LPF™) Cladding Technology

Dennis Bray, President of Contour Precision Group LLC announced that Huffman & Rolls Royce will share exhibit space (Booth N°259) at the upcoming DMC2011 Defense Manufacturing Conference ( at the Anaheim Convention Center to November 28th through December 1st, 2011.

DMC2011 is the premier Defense Manufacturing Conference in the country with over 220 Exhibitors promoting manufacturing technologies for defense related industries.

Rolls-Royce and Huffman will be promoting the success of their collaborative efforts in LPF™ (Laser Powder Fusion) Cladding technology of Aero Engine components at the Rolls Royce facility in Indianapolis, IN.

The ongoing R&D projects at Rolls Royce using a Huffman HC-245ACC 5-Axis Laser has proven highly successful for Rolls Royce in the development of aero engine process technologies. The HC-245 offers large X,Y,Z axis travels of 30 x 18” x 20” (762 x 457 x 508 mm) and an accommodate 30” Ø parts on the Rotary “B&C” Axis.

According to John Grubbs, Technical Program Manager at Rolls Royce, “The technical and process development support that Contour Precision has provided is a key enabler at our Global Technology Center. The advanced HC-245ACC Laser Cladding machine with full Five Axis of motion, and Huffman’s powerful AutoCLAD™ 3D software, has allowed us to tackle a wide range of complex applications. The ACC (Argon Containment Chamber) on the machine has demonstrated impressive performance in the cladding of Titanium and high temperature aerospace materials.”
